Hi everyone, my name is Chelsea Carlson and I'm happy to announce that I will be teaching Girls Rock Too, Valley Music Center's newest rock music lessons program aimed at girls who want to learn how to rock.  Take guitar, bass, piano, or vocal lessons from me - and learn how to find your inner-rockstar!

Rock has always been a male-dominated genre, but here at Girls Rock Too, we're on a mission to prove that girls rock just as hard as the boys!  But these won't be any regular music lessons, because I'm not just here to show you how to play an instrument, but how to become a rockstar.  In addition to learning your instrument, I'll also be teaching my students the ropes of rock, from songwriting techniques to stage presence.  You'll learn how to be great by learning the music of the greats, from Led Zeppelin to Grace Potter & the Nocturnals.  

I've been playing music for as long as I can remember - I was practically born with an instrument in my hands.  And the first music I fell in love with was good ole' rock & roll.  Over the years, I've performed in many bands and music groups, and received much recognition for my performance.  In 2010, I was accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston MA, where I studied for three semesters as a bass guitar principle and Professional Music / Music Business major.  I'm currently taking some time away from Berklee to get my music career up-and-running here in New Jersey.  Currently, I attend County College of Morris and work with my band, Chelsea Carlson & the Black Dogs, who recently performed at Sullivan Hall in NYC and the famous Stanhope House, as well as in my acoustic duo with John Graham and as a soloist.  And now, I'm incredibly excited to join the amazing staff at Valley Music Center and work with Girls Rock Too!  For more information about me, feel free to check out my website: http://www.chelseacarlsonmusic.com

Girls Rock Too lessons are great for any girls who want to show the world their music, regardless of style.  Here at Girls Rock Too, we don't only teach the heavy stuff - I'm more than happy to work with singer-songwriters, folk singers, country artists, and acoustic musicians too!  

Girls Rock Too is located at Long Valley's very own music store, Valley Music Center (62 E Mill Road).  At VMC, you can find all your music needs - from supplies to repairs, and with a venue/recording studio next door, this is really Morris County's music hotspot.  And guess what?  Once you're ready to take the next step into the world of rock music, feel free to sign up for VMC's Rock Instruction Program, where you put on seasonal shows and get to show off your rocker skills onstage, in addition to keeping your music lessons!
