Cops: Driver Was Drunk, Asleep at the Wheel
The following information was provided by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A Long Valley woman was transported to Morristown Medical Center after she was found intoxicated and asleep in the driver’s seat of her car on the side of Fairmount Road, according to Washington Township Police Lt. Doug Compton.
A driver called police to report a stopped vehicle on the shoulder of the road, with a woman who appeared to be “slumped” over the steering wheel on Wednesday night, Compton said.
When Officer Adam Feichter, Sgt. Jeffrey Almer, and Cpl. Brian Bigham arrived, they located Karen Addeo, 37, sleeping while the vehicle was still in gear, Compton said.
Feichter then put the car in park and smelled a strong odor of alcohol in the car and on Addeo, Compton said. Feichter was able to awaken Addeo, who then said she had also consumed a large quantity of prescription medicines, Compton said.
The Long Valley First Aid Squad then reported to the scene to assist. A witness at the scene stated they saw Addeo driving “extremely erratically,” and at one point was traveling south in the northbound lane, Compton said. The witness said they saw Addeo pull over and appeared to fall asleep immediately, Compton said.
Addeo was removed from the vehicle and transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Long Valley First Aid Squad, and accompanied by Feichter, Compton said.
Addeo was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, consuming alcohol in a vehicle, and failure to keep right.
She had previously been charged in other incidents allegedly involving intoxication. In one, she allegedly threatened to kill an officer. In another, police said she had kicked an officer in the groin.

Hospital? This loser needs to be in jail! Twice she's gone after our police force. How many more chances does she get before she seriously hurts or kills someone? Off with her drunken head!

Unless this happened in the same 35 seconds, I am very concerned that a witness saw all of this and did not call it in. Why did it take until a passing motorist noticed the car for the police to be notified?

I wonder why someone who finds NW NJ so boring would frequent a Patch site from NW NJ.

I am sure you will continue to think this is joke worthy until she crashes into your life somehow. I woud appreciate an update, including the charges brought by the PD.

@L. Mc - Thanks for the comment. The charges have been included in this article: "Addeo was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, consuming alcohol in a vehicle, and failure to keep right."
Hope this helps!

@not in jerseynomore, you are probably not in jersey no more because your too trashy and can't afford to live here. I think you are referring to a different part of jersey because NORTH jersey is one of the prettiest areas in the state of NJ let alone the east coast and it makes me appreciate the fact that i live there. This lady is just a moron and an embarrassment to the town and deserves to be "bored and fall asleep" in the boring north west jersey jails

What a waste of my time! I do not read Patch every day, but decided to revisit it for a little while today, and am sorely disappointed in the attitude and downright rudeness of some posts today. PLEASE can't you keep your bad energy to yourself???!!!!!
