Cops: Teen Huffed Aerosol, Drove Into Fence

The following information was provided by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Long Valley teen admitted to huffing aerosol products after she hit a fence with her car, drove on someone’s front lawn, and struck a tree before leaving the scene, according to Washington Township Police Lt. Doug Compton.

The 17-year-old female, whose name is being withheld due to her age, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident on Saturday, Compton said.

The teen first struck the fence on Mountain View Avenue just after 4 p.m., Compton said. Patrol officer Michael Thompson responded to the scene and was advised by witnesses that the driver hit the fence and proceeded to drive through a nearby lawn, strike a tree, and exit onto East Mill Road, Compton said.
