Cops: Toddler Hospitalized After Falling in Pond

Medical condition still unknown.

A 21-month-old female was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital Sunday morning after she was found in a man-made Koi pond outside her home, said.

According to information provided to the police, the child had gotten outside and was unsupervised, and subsequently fell into the pond. The girl was removed from the pond by a family member and brought into the home, but was unresponsive and not breathing, Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

Washington Township Police were called to the scene, and CPR was administered by Patrol Officer Adam Feichter and Sgt. Earl Barnes, police said. The girl was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital’s Trauma Center. Niemynski could not comment on the medical condition of the child. The incident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was the Long Valley First Aid Squad and Medic 517. A landing zone was established at Rock Spring Park, and the Long Valley Fire Company coordinated the landing of Air One.
