It would be an outrage if the BOE votes tomorrow in a "special" meeting, slid forward to ***6:00 pm*** from the usual 7:00 pm, to sneak in kindergarten. This is sleazy politics.
What is the loss in revenue from current rental of space to the outsourced half day extended care?
What private sector jobs are going to be lost at wonderful local places like the Friendship Center?

Those who cannot attend might be encouraged to call Superintendent Mohre at his office (908) 876-4172, (who will probably lose the message/or, better yet, contact the BOE members through the office and share their concerns for lost private sector jobs and revenue income versus higher school spending for taxpayers.

So it's not about what's best for the children of Washington Township and their families? Instead this comes down to "concerns for lost private sector jobs and revenue income versus higher school spending for taxpayers". This of course is a total faleshood as the WTBOE has clearly shown none the three options results in an increase in spending (this year vs. last).
Why don't you try lying under your real name? At least we will know who to laugh at when we see you on the street.

I believe the kindergarten program is a guise to hide the fact that we NEED TO CLOSE a school because of the lack of registration. We have many less students and so the town wants to do anything they can to NOT admit there was NO foresight to the enrollment needs. IT was a mistake, im sorry for hindsight but obviously we didnt have enough information to make an intelligent decision as to building another school. CLOSE a school, save the taxpayers money, reduce taxes and move on.Again, there will be NO legacy familys in long valley because of the negligent decisions of our ruling party. REDUCE TAXES NOW!!!!!!!

Good post Mr. Sprately! Excellent post from a longstanding and upright community member. I encourage to keep post and simply ignore the feces flinging from the village sociopath.
Dropping enrollment in our town is the equivalent of the BOE finding our taxpayers wallet in the street. Instead of returning the money, they are figuring out ways to spend it to suit the whims on the teacher's pressure groups.Let's not forget that every board member has a child in the system -- I believe that's corrct, or it is 8 out of ten. Do you think they want to tick off the teacher's union. This is theft, plain and simple. Mohre is just an oily front man for Big Education,

Funny how I didn't see a Mr. Wilson or Mr. Spratley on the ballot for the open board seat last November. Yet Mr. Wilson complains about the makeup of the WTBOE. You can't make this stuff up. These people have no shame.

My statement is meant for both mark spratley and mrwilson. You both hit the nail on the head.

Mr. Nedd, it is simply my opinion not word. If the schools are needed, great. It was my understanding that enrolement was down and I thought I heard talk of possibly closing a school. I surely hate to hear when people lose there job but I love it when our taxes can be reduced. Let the powers to be decide.

So you heard talk of the possibility of closing of a school. Where may I ask did you hear this "talk" from? Was it a member of the BOE? Was it from the superintendent himself? Hearing it from any other sources should cause one to pause in terms of how much credence to give it, right? By the way how many BOE meetings have you attended? Have you ever attempted to obtain information from the only source authorized to provide it?

Close a school and lower our taxes....that's all.

The problem is; which one??? You know they’re not going to close the spanking new school they just spent millions on a few years ago. They’d be unlikely to close Flocktown/Kossman since Kossman is an award-winning lower elementary school, and Flocktown underwent major renovations just a few years back. So that leaves Old Farmers, which would make sense since it is an older, more worn school. But that would mean that all the families south of 513, all the way to the Hunterdon County border, would have to send their kids all the way up the mountain to school. Do you realize the uproar that would cause for the valley parents???

FourScore, the Middle School is a mess. Why not close the middle school and make Cucinella the new middle school? It would allow a lot more taxpayers to benefit from the newer school, and, by middle school, the kids should be okay with the longer commute.

First; there is a real big problem with retro-fitting a school designed for students in grades K-5 to a school for students in grades 6-8. Second, the issue with the distance for valley residents has nothing to do with the age of the students, it has to do with parents who have to drive many miles to pick their kids up or attend school events. If you were at the redistricting meeting when Cucinella first opened, you would have seen valley parents screaming bloody murder that they now had to climb the mount to get to their kids’s school. And these were parents who lived in neighborhoods right at the base of the mountain.

I'm not sure what kind of modifications would need to be made to the school itself but the driving difference is not that bad. I'm as far from the high school as you can get in LV, you adjust to the driving time when you don't have a choice. Getting your kids to and from events is not so bad, it's when they forget something that makes you scream:)

It would require a major retrofit. Everything from science classroom, lockers, the size of the gym, athletic fields, the chairs in the lunch room, etc.

Mr. Nedd,
I didnot attend any BOE meetings nor was I on the ballot.
I Coached kids for about 11 years, baseball, soccer, basketball, wrestling both boys and girls, I was invloved in Scouts and I have been volunteering with the Special Olympics for many years as well as a non profit, thats it. I support the WTPD and the WTFD but I do not support anything that has to do with our taxes and the school system. The taxes are already at a rediculous rate.
Kevin Nedd

So if you don't support anything having to do with our taxes, where do you think most of your municipal taxes get spent? The answer appears in your message above.

We get it, Need, anyone who expresses an opinion needs to first win an election for public office.
How about anyone that loses an election by a historic landslide margin shut up?
