LV Green Market Set to Open Thursday

Locally-driven shopping experience comes back for second year.

On Thursday, April 5, from 3 to 7 p.m., the returns for its second season with a grand opening that’s sure to mobilize the entire community. Customers can expect the best local, artisanal food and handmade goods as well as lots of fun family activities.

Of course the market’s vendors, all of which grow or make their own wares, are the main attraction. Co-founders Kate Munning and Leona Harrington have scoured the area to collect the best local food in one place, from staples like vegetables, bread, cheese, and meat to treats like cupcakes, flowers, wine, granola, and coffee. Add to that a sumptuous array of handmade goods like soap and jewelry, and some beautiful berry plants and fruit trees ready for planting in your garden, and this event promises to be a regular spring celebration!

On April 5, visitors will also be treated to live music and tasty samples from . And true to its mission to be a community-minded effort, the market’s grand opening will be host to fun and games to benefit local teen . The Girl Scouts are organizing face painting and a station for making get well cards for Glenn, as well as other activities to be announced.

The grand opening is just the beginning! Each week brings something new and creative. Chef Samara Salisbury will be cooking scrumptious food using our vendors’ marvelous ingredients. Everyone’s favorite children’s , Maria Birch, will be visiting for special farmers’ market storytimes. There will even be thrilling children’s scavenger hunts in the park next door. Long Valley Green Market will be held every Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. through the end of October. The market is producer driven, meaning that vendors are primarily allowed to sell products that they grow or make themselves. The emphasis is on local, sustainable agriculture—farmers producing good food and the community that supports them.
