Old Farmers Students Hoop It Up For Lightner

Fifth graders hold fundraiser bringing in $1,000.

Even though they may not know him, they want him to get well soon.

That's what was running through the minds of students at recently, when the embarked on a Hoops for Hope fundraisers to benefit Long Valley Middle School student Glenn Lightner.

Lightner, 13, is currently overseas seeking alternative medicine to help cure his brain cancer.

Fifth graders at the school collected donations from family members and staff, with a final number topping $1,000. In return, the classes were to shoot basketball hoops or hula hoop 1,000 times.

The event also included decorating a car to send to Lightner, wishing him well.
