Students Sprout Plants to Open School Year
Younger garden club members spruce up front of Kossmann School.
In order to celebrate the beginning of the new school year, members of the Sprouts of Long Valley planted mums in flower pots outside Kossman School.
Sprouts on the job included Kiley Murphy; Adeline Autry; Mara Stahlhut; Kaitlyn Murphy; and Katie Harris.
The Sprouts are the youth gardening program associated with the Garden Club of Long Valley. They have monthly meetings where they learn about horticulture, work with plants, and make crafts using plant materials.
This year, the Sprouts will be working on activities to enter two flower shows; the first is the show sponsored by the State of NJ in February, and the second will be the show sponsored by the Garden Club of Long Valley's in April.
