'Suspicious Spot' Removed From Teen's Brain

Glenn Lightner heads back to U.S. for small surgery following MRI.

The journey through Belgium to receive alternative medicinal treatments for Glenn Lightner’s brain cancer took a quick detour through Memphis, Tennessee this week, but the Long Valley teen is heading back to Europe this Saturday.

After an MRI revealed a suspicious spot on Lightner’s brain two weeks ago, said his father, Larry Lightner, the teen’s current caretaker, Professor Van Gool, recommended the spot be removed as a precaution.

The Lightners returned to New Jersey on Saturday, then headed to Memphis, Tennessee to have the suspicious spot removed, Larry Lightner said.

“The surgery went well, and Glenn is doing well,” his father said on Tuesday. “The surgeon removed the spot we saw on the MRI, and Glenn and Silvia are scheduled to return to Europe to continue with the planned treatments.”

By removing the spot, Lightner said, the effectiveness of Professor Van Gool’s injections will be greater. Glenn Lightner has already received four of the injections.
