Video Shows James Bond-Style Burglary, Police Say
Police release video of gang believed to be targeting homes in multiple municipalities in Morris and Somerset counties.
A video of what authorities believe to be a sophisticated gang of thieves committing crimes in a similar fashion to the infamous James Bond Gang has been released.
The video, taken from surveillance cameras at a Sandy Hill home in Chatham Township, clearly shows four men with their faces concealed breaking in through the front door. The video was released by Chatham Township police.
Immediately after the thieves entered, the home's alarm and video surveillance system were disabled, with a signal never relayed to the department, according to police.
The burglary is one of several at homes in Morris County which were carefully selected for burglaries, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
According to a statement released Friday by Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, the crew has targeted high-end homes in quiet neighborhoods, often on a cul-de-sac and along the interstate corridors for a quick getaway.
The four men on the video wore plain sweatshirts and pants, masks and gloves.
The crew, which has been compared to the infamous James Bond Gang, has used luxury rental vehicles to blend into the communities, Bianchi said.
The thieves are believed to be responsible for burglaries in Boonton Township, Chatham, Chester, Hanover, Harding, Kinnelon, Long Hill, Mendham, Montville, Morris Township, Parsippany and Randolph, Bianchi said. The crew has also been linked to incidents in Bernardsville, Bernards, Bridgewater and Warren Township in Somerset County.
Authorities have asked residents to report all suspicious activity to local police departments and contact the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Stopper Program at 973-COPCALL with any information regarding the incidents.

I wonder if these four knuckleheads take turns destroying their backs. In order to spare their backs, I would suggest that they use their numb skulls to break down the doors since there is obviously very little gray matter amongst them to damage. I'm kidding of course; they must be quite street smart to be eluding capture by our ever-so-capable police forces, who will surely solve this caper in no time flat.

I'm wondering if the guy slamming his back against the door is actually wearing some type of protective padding under his shirt. If not, ouch! Those bruises have got to hurt in the morning.
Also, why are these guys wearing white? If you're breaking into homes at night wearing a ski mask, wouldn't black blend in with the night better?
Finally, I love how much care they gave to the stuffed doll decoration thing. The first guy moved it away from the door, and then the second guy moved it our of the camera sight. It is as if they were concerned it would watch them ... hahaha.

Henry,
Wear a badge and gun for the afternoon. Do a couple traffic stops in the dead of night. Go arrest someone and watch his family disintegrate as you walk him out in cuffs. Lay hands on someone high on PCP who is bent on eating your face, so he can get 3 squares and a warm bed rather than live on the streets.
Understand the job before you malign those braver than you who choose to wear the uniform.

Uniformed,
Of course you are absolutely correct and I do apologize for my offhanded comment. In all honesty, I do believe that the burglars will be apprehended.

The video is in infrared, so they may well be wearing dark colors but it shows up as white under cameras equipped with night vision. Did you notice they didn't have a bag of tools? If you have a safe or other kind of heavy duty locking deterrent they would be out of luck.

I wonder how no one in the neighborhood heard them banging the door like that. Unreal. Since their video is released I don't think they'll drop by this area again but you never know. I hope they stop by my area so I can give them a good swing of the bat to their head lol. Guaranteed these are scared young kids who messed up in school. Wow.

You're absolutely right! I missed that completely. This Video's got me wondering about that front door. Can you break a dead bolt like that? It definitely looks like he already knew what he was up against.

In all seriousness, if you live in the area start hiding your valuables in discreet locations. At least until these people are caught. My friend was one of the ones robbed in kinnelon. The other night my cousin came to his nice home on a cul de sac and there was a van parked outside. Right after he pulled up his driveway the van sped off. He got back in his car and chased the van while speaking with the police. The van started taking side streets at high speeds and he lost him. Not sure what came of it or if the police caught up with the van. Just saying to keep an eye out and ears open for a bit.

It seems like the house has some delivery boxes outside their door too so that might have made it obvious to them, however, how did they know how to disable the alarms? I'm sure authorities are talking to alarm company already and I'm stating the obvious. Well, you can tell they have regular pants/jeans on underneath and someone fashionable sneakers on. So I guess when they take off their garb they look like nice guys.

The guy slamming at the door has quite a cut to his torso. Defintely looks like a gym rat. And if you freeze him when he shows his face early on, he looks Asian. Just guessing. Liked to see these people off the street. So comment about the video. Can't hurt law inforcements chances at catching them.

oh wow @Chatham Resident Too! What an observation! The first guy DOES look Asian now that you mention it!!!! His stance and body shape too! I keep watching it and YES! I agree 101% and the more I watch the video, the whole group is probably Asian.

Uniformed or any other officer here--would the police consider setting these thieves up by staking out inside an ideal home (cul de sac or near rt. 287) by leaving packages outside or dry cleaning, ect?? The officers would be waiting inside and nab them. Seems the only option, with exception of a resident unfortunately being home and possibly gun involvement on one or both sides. My elderly parents live in one of the neighborhoods hit and it's really unnerving...not too long ago a "gang" attempted to steal their neighbors car in their driveway in broad daylight...scary stuff in a usually quiet and safe place...

I agree that what you are proposing sounds good, but can you imagine how many man hours you're talking about? Also, it's not a coincidence that municipalities have had massive police layoffs and this happens. When police are laid off, a vacuum is created. And it's always "scum" that gets sucked in.
