West Morris Fencers Foil Hackettstown in Final Bout

Senior Tim Salmon records decisive victory for the Wolfpack.

The West Morris Central and Hackettstown boys fencing teams came down to the final match with the Wolpack pulling out a 14-13 win Thursday night.

Senior epee fencer Tim Salmon recorded a 5-2 win in the decisive bout. David Sherer was undefeated in all three of his bouts in epee.

On Monday, the boys team beat Butler, 17-10. WMC boys are 3-0 so far this season. The boys competed at the Cetrulo Tournament at Voorhees on Saturday.

The WMC girls beat Hackettstown 16-11 on Thursday. Junior Anastasia Enriquez scored the deciding bout. Enriquez and junior Erin Dietsche went undefeated in all three of their bouts in foil. Freshman Holly Vaccarella, sabre, scored her first varsity win.

On Monday, WMC girls beat Butler 22-5. First year epee fencer, sophomore Robyn Vuskalns, fenced twice and scored her first two varsity wins. WMC girls are 2-1 so far this season. The WMC fencing teams will compete at Chatham at 6 p.m. Monday.
