Who's Got the Best Slice of Pizza in LV?
Wars have broken out because of this age-old question.
One thing Washington Township is not lacking is its share of pizza places.
But they're all still in business, and doing just fine, which means we're all eating plenty of pizza in Long Valley.
This question, for some, could be likened to asking which of your children is your favorite? Or, it could be the contrary, and be subject to sports talk radio arguments about who's the better team.
We've actually asked our readers this question in the past, but now there's a Patch Readers' Choice certificate on the line, and the honor of being called the best in town.
So, where do you go for the best pizza in town?
Bob's Long Valley Pizza
Cornerstone Tavern & Grill
Splash Seafood & Pasta
Roman Pizza
Phil's Pizza
Schooley's Mountain General Store
(If we're leaving one off the list, please let us know in the comments section)
The winner will be selected on a point system based on poll votes and directory ratings. If there is a tie, a winner will be determined by the amount of positive comments posted on this article and positive reviews received on its directory listing. For full contest rules, click on the PDF attached to this article.
Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments and reviews. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

You omitted my all time favorite PIETRO'S, which is at the bottom of Hacketstown hill on rt 46, by Blockbuster, still local but not in town center. We have some good pizza in town but with this guy, it's more like a dinner than a snack. Excellent menu also, in all other areas, eat in or take out. Try the Veal Saltimbocca, fantastic.

Do we really have to repeat the pizza poll? How about a poll for the best dentist or M.D.?

@Roger Freiday - Thanks so much for the comment. We didn't add Pietro's to this list because, unfortunately, the business is preparing to close this month and will no longer be part of Washington Township (the owner has created a new restaurant in another town). It would be hard for us to award a business when they are no longer there.
@J Hunkins - When we originally ran the 'pizza poll' in Oct. 2011, it wasn't part of our Patch-wide Readers' Choice initiative. This time, we're trying to settle the score of best slice once and for all. Thanks for the comment.

Splash has the best gourmet pizza-their portebello mushroom with balsamic is awesome. The service in their resturant could use improvement though!!

No mater which establishment you go to in Long Valley or the surrounding area's, Pizza quality is sub par at best.

Rex, if you're looking for true NY pizza (or bagels) you need to go closer to the city. The pizza around here is just not true NY style pizza if that is your complaint. The pizza here is still tasty made with quality ingredients. It all depends what part of the country you come from. Did you ever have pizza in Italy, its very different than NYC.

Claire, I grew up 20 minutes outside the City and there were a few places making very good pizza. As far as NYC, I found the pizza in Brooklyn the best. You can get some amazing pizza in Jersey; Mack and Mancos in Ocean City, Star tavern in Orange just to name 2, but you can't get it here in our area.

Heidi, This is an open forum where all views are welcome, correct? I did answer the question in my first post. I Never said there was "no good food here" I was just giving my thoughts on the pizza only. I never questioned the hard work you and other business owners put in everyday nor am I trashing the businesses in town... Heidi, it was just about the Pizza.....Sheesh! :)

Bobs and Schooleys Mt get my vote. I like both depending which direction I am going by that day. My kids/YA like Roman because they can get 2 pies for a cheap price before a movie.

Claire...I am so with you on pizza and bagels. You need to get closer to the city to really experience what it's about!! I lived in Florida for years and quite literally, the first thing I would do when I would come home and visit was get pizza when I arrived, and bagels the next morning! Hot bagels in Fair Lawn are THE BEST!!

I am very picky about everything I eat. For pizza, I will only eat whole wheat crust, and only vegan (non-dairy) cheese, and only fresh vegetables on top. So for me, it's a no-brainer - Bob's Long Valley Pizza is the only one that I have on speed dial!
