Wolfpack Erases Irvington, Head to Title Game
West Morris Central football shuts out opponent in semifinal playoff game, will play for title at Rutgers University Dec. 8.
For the last two seasons, the West Morris Central Wolfpack football team and the semifinal round of the NJSIAA State Sectional playoffs haven't gotten along.
This year, however, is a little bit different.
The Wolfpack hit the road to take on Irvington Saturday, with the winner punching its ticket to the North Jersey Section II, Group IV title game next Saturday. The result was a 26-0 drubbing by the away team, according to nj.com.
Thanks to two rushing touchdowns by Austin Roland and Adam Caruso in the first quarter, Central opened to a 14-0 early lead and never looked back, the nj.com box score showed.
Caruso amassed 140 yards on 16 carries in addition to the score, the report said.
With the win, the Wolfpack (7-4) will face off against Warren Hills Regional High School at Rutgers University on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m.
The last time these two teams faced off for a sectional title was 2001, when Warren Hills beat the Wolfpack at West Morris Central, 21-14.
