I just took in our “big blue marble” Earth Day flag. I was happy for the soaking last night—and who would ever have had that thought that last fall? Our herbs are flourishing and will be for sale at the LV Green Market on Thursday, and our basement is dry. I posted this on Facebook for Earth Day and want to share it on our LV Patch:
Happy Earth Day! There was a lot accomplished in environmental awareness since 1969 and there is much more left to do. I'm elated by the interest shown year after year and continued progress toward a cleaner, safer, sounder environment for us all, our kids, their kids, and on. Political dynamics in play now are daunting, but we have to always remember that environmental responsibility starts at home. There’s no such thing as “small thing.” Indeed, Margret Mead’s quote, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has,” is being tested today more than ever.
We have to understand the true costs that our lifestyles, diets, shopping and consumption habits incur, and be aware that protecting fresh water, arable soil, and clean air is everyone’s responsibility. We need to demand more from our government—on every level, to ensure that this earth is not sacrificed for the sake of profit. To that end, I toast everyone with a cold, clean glass of water!

I wish someone would clean up all that nasty signage on the big bend on Schooleys Mountain Road.....Last I checked today there were 24 signs up! the property owners should charge rent, maybe some of them would keep them up for a shorter period of time, or at least remove them when the event is over. I had out of state company who even mentioned "Ewe what is all that"

We noticed that too and heard similar comments. There’s an unwritten rule that political signs displayed on the “big turn” and elsewhere in the township be removed the day after the election. I think that when an event, like a tricky tray or sports sign-up has expired, the signs should come down.

I always found it ironic that at this location of this extremely hazardous turn, which takes much care and concentration to navigate it safely, we post lots of signs to further distract drivers.

The only people that don't obey the unwriiten rules of sigsn coming down the next day are usually Democrats and a few indepndent Republicans... Henwood And Kennedy left their signs up for more than a month after their campaigns and so did Rick Welsh...

Joe, I think you left your signs up after the election last year, but than again I don't think you put out that many that it was noticeable.

I forgot to note that the fire company with its pancake breakfast signs, are "fair" they go up and right back down, plus its something to benefit the township. But others are there and up way to long, both in advance and after the fact. and I do notice signage even from other towns, which is absurd. Maybe Tracy would know more up to date info, but back in the day I had to put up a sign for a local club here in town, and we had to get permission in writing from the owners, at that time it was Welsh farms who owned the property, perhaps they still do, I don't know, but there were rules to follow and also the size of the sign, etc

Joe, I made extra sure I had an exceptionally large carbon foot print on Earth day. I ran two barbecue grills, left my cars running an extra few minutes. I lit a fire in my fireplace all day and night and turned on every light in my house all day. I wish I could have done more to increase my carbon footprint.

Do you know why April 22nd is Earthday? It is the Birthday of Vladimir Lenin!
The first nationwide Earth Day was held April 22, 1970, the 100th anniversary of
Vladimir Lenin, who was a Marxist Communist who presided over million of deaths to come to power.
The birth of the communist Bolshevik leader.

United Nations proposes trillions in taxes to at upcoming Rio Summit in June.
The upcoming United Nations environmental conference on sustainable development will consider a breathtaking array of carbon taxes, transfers of trillions of dollars from wealthy countries to poor ones, and new spending programs to guarantee that populations around the world are protected from the effects of the very programs the world organization wants to implement, according to stunning U.N. documents examined by Fox News

Joe, I challenge your statement, "We need to demand more from our government—on every level, to ensure that this earth is not sacrificed for the sake of profit." anyone who thinks like this is an enemy of Liberty. Let me reacquaint you with the basic premise of the United States Constitution. America's federal Government has limited powers. The Declaration of Independence...The traditional American philosophy teaches that government must be limited in power if Individual Liberty is to be safeguarded, if each Individual's God-given, unalienable rights are to be made and kept enduringly secure.

Useful idiot....defined
Term invented in Soviet Russia to describe people who blindly supported the likes of Lenin and Stalin while they committed atrocity after atrocity..........Today, it refers to brainwashed liberals and leftists the world over usually college students that aren't necessarily idiots, but just misinformed, naive, and ignorant of facts due to being indoctrinated with liberal/socialist propaganda through their public education.

Thomas....The sites you link are all Right Wing Conservative Spin machines. World News Daily..Fox News...That does not make them accurate or correct. If you think protecting the earth is a bad thing you are being short sighted and do not care about mankind or future generations, only the value of your portfolio. If you think the world population size is not a problem you live in a vacuum. And for your benift I hope that vacuum is full of exhaust fumes and toxins - so you can revel in them.

Not again, so you are embracing communism to save the Earth? How double minded and cowardly that you would make such a remark not in your own name.. You live in a world of pollution, you pollute the earth everyday. Where does your garbage go? What about the emissions for your car? Or the coal that is burned to by JCP&L to power your house. What about all of the plastics you use???.....Earthday is a farce, anyone who believes they are saving the earth by celebrating Earthday is deceived...Buying into the environmentalist movement's agenda you are destroying your children's future through excessive taxation. Remember, every time you turn on a light bulb coal is burned to power that bulb....

Not Again are you in denying there is an upcoming United Nations environmental conference on sustainable development will consider a breathtaking array of carbon taxes, transfers of trillions of dollars from wealthy countries to poor ones, supported by the Obama Administration because it was reported on Fox News? Why?
