A late afternoon downpour that swept through Washington Township knocked out power to 1,504 people Thursday, with an estimated time of restoration not until later into the night.

Dark clouds rolled in around 4:30 p.m. which led to steady rain just after 5 p.m. The skies opened up just after 6 p.m. and torrential rains clobbered the area.

The center of Long Valley, including the stop light at the intersection of Schooley's Mountain Road and East Mill Road, was powerless as of 7:15 p.m. to go along with some 22-percent of the township.

Jersey Central Power & Light's estimated time for complete restoration was 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Did you lose power? What part of town/neighborhood are you in?

was it from a tree falling over the lines????? if trees are the issue like the one a couple of weeks ago over by Newburg road where a nixle was actually sent out about it, (tree contact was what it said) why NO nixle report last night???? and if it was trees they better vamp up their tree trimming service and/ or revisit what they supposedly did last year to help with this constant issue
