99 Pounds of Unwanted Meds Turned in By Twp. Residents

Four-hour drop-off at police headquarters yields major success.

Taking part in the statewide Operation Take Back initiative, Washington Township police hosted a drop-off spot for unused, unwanted and expired prescription medicines on Saturday, and the result was very good.

Some 99 pounds of medicine were dropped off at police headquarters, according to Lt. Doug Compton. The load was then taken to the Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposal.

The local drop-off was available to Washington Township residents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The initiative usually runs twice a year; once in the spring and again in the fall.
