Donors Thanked for $10K to Flanders Fire Survivors

Amy Bonner Langdo, the aunt of a 7-year-old boy who, along with a 52-year-old man perished in a Flanders fire early Monday morning, thanked the donors and their generosity for the financial help that has poured in.

Langdo launched a Give Forward page late Monday to help the surviving family members with the costs of burials and future living arrangements. As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, $10,861 had been donated.

“The family members would like to thank everyone for their generous donations so far. Please give us the strength to go on. Cris and Hesham will be missed greatly and never forgotten. They both had smiles that could turn gray skies blue,” Langdo said on the Give Forward page Tuesday.

Bianca suffered severe burns from the blaze, according to Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp.

“Bianca needs our prayers; she suffered burns on her face and arms and may have damage to her lungs. The good news is that she is responding to everyone’s voice. We know she is a very brave and strong little girl,” Langdo said on the fundraising website.

Family, friends and strangers poured their support to the Bonner and Moustafa families on the donation page, offering well-wishes and prayers.

"Carmella, my heart breaks terribly for u and the children. I can never forget my little buddy and Moustafa. I wish I can take your pain away. And, I pray for Bianca to fight and be strong. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you and give you the strength to get thru this horrible tragedy,” said Maria Delpesce on Monday.

One of the faculty members from the school Cristiano Bonner attended also expressed condolences.

"I only knew Cristian a month, but having him in the classroom brightened the day. He always had a smile on his face. Heaven gained an angel when he took him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Sending hugs,” said Nicole List.

“The family lost everything they owned in the fire.  In time, and with your help, these things can be replaced,” Langdo said. “The lives that were lost, however, can never be replaced and for that we ask only that you remember them as the wonderful people they were.”

The donation page is open until Feb. 25 with a fundraising goal of $20,000.
