Long Valley Native Takes on Brazil, World Cup for Life-Changing Experience

Nick Prue's first out of country experience lands him at the biggest sporting event of the year.

If college life is about combining learning, fun, and real world experiences, Nick Prue just summed it all up in 10 days.

The Long Valley native and Western New England University student recently returned from a trip to Brazil during the 2014 FIFA World Cup as part of the school’s Center for International Sport Business (CISB) program.

While there, Prue and his classmates took in three group-stage matches at the Marcana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, toured the sights, including the Christ the Redeemer statue, had a VIP tour of the FIFA International Broadcast Center, and grabbed some beach time at the famed Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, according to a statement from Wester New England University.

"This experience has opened my eyes to an amazing culture. Not only have I had the time of my life, but I am so happy that the first time I left the U.S. was to go Rio de Janeiro for the 2014 FIFA World Cup,” said Prue in the statement.
