Long Valley Native, Maryland Cop Dies in Plane Crash

Joshua Adickes, 27, was a passenger in a two-seater plane that crashed into the sea off the Ocean City shore last Sunday afternoon. Adickes grew up in Long Valley and graduated West Morris Central in 2004.

The sudden loss of Josh Adickes stunned a community full of his extended family members. He was remembered as “always smiling” and loved to be around his closest friends and family members.

South Korean Detained for 2012 Hackettstown Shooting Threats

Sixteen months later and a half-a-world away, police tracked down the man who threatened to kill students at Hackettstown High School in March 2012. The man, a member of the South Korean military, allegedly used a voice over system application on his phone when speaking with the Warren County dispatch center. He was never actually in the area.

Top Schools Chief Gets Pay Cut in New 5-Year Contract

The Washington Township Board of Education and superintendent Jeff Mohre came to terms on a new contract that will keep the administrator in the district for the next half decade. Under Governor Chris Christie’s new salary cap law, Mohre was forced to take a $20,000 per year pay cut from his previous contract.

Road-Ready K-9 Unit Gets Much Needed Funding

Even though Cliff the K-9 is ready to patrol the streets of Washington Township, the costs to keep him healthy and fed will continue. One Long Valley resident, thankful for the use of the fully-trained dog, donated a sum to the department to help with Cliff’s needs.
