Power Outage Darkens 1,600 Twp. Homes Saturday

JCP&L says a wire is down, causing widespread problem.

Despite the beautiful early fall weather Saturday afternoon, 1,686 Washington Township homes were without power, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

That total is equivalent to 24-percent of the township's homes.

A specific reason for the outage was a down wire, according to Stan Prater, area manager with JCP&L. How the wire was taken down is not yet known, Prater said.

This is the second major power outage of the month for Washington Township. The first came in the aftermath of a storm on Sept. 13.

Did you lose power Saturday afternoon? What time did it go out? What part of town are you in?
