Truth or Tale: Legend of the Hookerman (Poll)

It's a tale that's been around as long as many of Washington Township's residents, one that is steeped in mystery, with no shortage of opinions from locals.

The Long Valley Pub & Brewery even named one of its signature beers after the subject.

It's the tale of the Hookerman.

Legend has it a railroad worker lost a limb–a hand, some say–while working on the tracks running parallel to Bartley Road from Washington Township to Mt. Olive.

And if you hang around long enough, at night, you'll see the ghost of that man carrying a light, searching for his missing limb.
