Comedy Murder Mystery 'Deathtrap' Opens Centenary Stage Company 2013-14 Season
And CSC's mounting of 'The English Bride' is New York-bound.
The Centenary Stage Company's fourth season at the Cententary College Lackland Center is upon us. The theater's season opener runs Oct. 4-20, and it's Ira Levin's twisting, plot-heavy murder mystery "Deathtrap."
Called by critics “a devilishly clever comedy,” "Deathtrap" is one of the most popular successes in Broadway history. The local production will feature award-winning artistic director Carl Wallnau as director and star. Rounding out the five-person cast is CSC favorite Maria Brodeur; Jon Mulhearn, who appeared in last year's "Mousetrap"; experienced actor/director Paul Whelihan, who is making his CSC debut; and Broadway and Regional Theatre veteran Colleen Smith-Wallnau. Set design is by Emmy-winning designer Bob Phillips.
The venue is Centenary College's 500-seat Sitnik Theatre at the Lackland Center located at 715 Grand Ave. in Hackettstown. Performance times are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There are 2 p.m. matinées on Wednesday October 9 and 16. For tickets, call the box office at 908-979-0900.
In other Lackland Center news, the theater's critically acclaimed 2013 CSC world premiere production of "The English Bride" is off to New York City. The production will run Oct. 21-Nov. 17 Off-Broadway as part of the 59E59 Theater season.
