10th Annual Joan Knechel Memorial Walk Sunday, October 21st at Mountain Lake in Liberty Township Welcome to the 10th Annual Joan Knechel Memorial Walk fundraising site! Last year's event was a record breaker, with over $70,000 raised to benefit the Joan Knechel Cancer Center at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center and more than 400 walkers taking part in the event. Be sure to check back often and watch the thermometer rise as our fundraising numbers continue to rise as we get closer to this year's 10th Anniversary event! We're proud to say that 100% of the proceeds from the JKMW stay LOCAL! Funds raised with this event enable the Joan Knechel Cancer Center to continue to provide state-of-the-art technology and cancer treatment, close to home, for cancer patients throughout the region. We hope you enjoy setting up your individual or team online registration page and engaging those you know in your efforts to support the JKMW. Together, "We Walk, We Care, We Keep It Local, 100%". See you on October 21st! The Joan Knechel Memorial Walk Planning Committee

In an effort to join the fight against breast cancer & raise money for local families in need, Hair Plus-The Salon is eager to help. In October 2011, we raised about $5,000 help in the fight against breast cancer & donated that money to local charities, Chain of Hope, Dance for the Cure &“Pink Hair for Hope” National Cancer Foundation. To raise money for these causes, we are promoting “Think Pink” hair extensions to everyone in October. Each extension is a $12 donation, with a portion of the proceeds going toward each of these charities and each Hillsborough School that hosts a "Think Pink" event. They will be able to donate to any charity they so choose. The Hair Plus staff was at at the Hillsborough Middle School on Friday October 5th. Ms. Ferreri, a teacher at HMS hosted a “Think Pink Day”. During the student's lunch periods, the Hair Plus staff applied the pink hair extensions to teachers & students. Thank you HMS! We will be also applying pink hair extensions at Woodsroad School on October 9th & Hillsborough Elementary School on October 11th. We would like to thank teachers Ms. Newsom & Mrs. Johnston-Barrios for organizing these events & supporting our charities. Please contact me if you have any questions on how to plan for your “Think Pink” event. We hope that you will join us in this endeavor & hopefully together, we can work to one day eradicate breast cancer. Sincerely, Suzi Mirra & the Hair Plus Staff Hillsborough Promenade (by Kohl's)

Just an FYI...The Avon walk for Breast Cancer is on Saturday, October 20th, and Sunday, October 21st. There are several of us in Long Valley and Mendham who will be walking in this AMAZING event!!! It's a marathon and a half in 2 days and the NYC walk usually raises over 9 million dollars to help provide care for breast cancer patients and their families...
