Instructor, Client 'Move!' Into Ownership at Local Fitness Center

Class-focused 'anti-gym' taken over by personal instructor, family lawyer.

Usually when a business undergoes new ownership, the incoming proprietors don’t have a strong sense of the company.

That’s just the opposite at Move! The Anti-Gym in Long Valley, which has recently changed hands. They fitness center is the same, but the ownership is new – in name only.

Longtime Move! fitness instructor Michelle Els and client Sarah Jacobs have come together to take over the center at 40 East Mill Road. Move!, located in a historic home with an adjacent converted barn, offers Pilates, BODYPUMP, BODYVIVE, Spinning, and other fitness-specific workouts.

This isn’t Jacobs’ first foray into entrepreneurship, as the family lawyer already owns her own small business. She was a client of Els’ at Move! and is an admitted fitness enthusiast.

Els, a native of South Africa, has been a personal trainer since 1989, and will co-own the business with Jacobs. The business was formerly owned by Aaron Ellis and Kurt Gesteland.
