Long Valley Cafe Joins Wine's World Leaders at New Jersey Event

Downtown wine bar will take part in annual showcase at Crystal Springs resort.

The Café & Wine Bar in downtown Long Valley has offered tastes and samples from around the world since it opened more than a year ago.

Now it has the opportunity to share those offerings at a New Jersey festival with leading wineries and distilleries from around the world.

The small business announced it will participate in the Grand Tasting at the Fifth at The Fifth Annual NJ Wine & Food Festival at Crystal Springs on March 29.

The event will feature more than 30 top chefs from New Jersey and New York, joining leading wineries and distilleries from around the globe. The festival benefits the James Beard Foundation.

The Café & Wine Bar opened in late 2012 and currently offer artisanal dishes and more than 40 wines by the sample, glass or bottle. Owner and Long Valley resident Maria Baniel said the café has been years in the making, but was waiting for the right opportunity.

When Maria’s Café closed in the fall of 2012, Baniel made a split-second decision while boarding a plane to occupy the soon-to-be vacant retail space, and dove into business ownership for the first time.

The Café & Wine Bar is part of Restaurant Village. Dinner is available Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. and the café is closed on Sundays.

The Cafe and Wine Bar is the best kept secret in the area. Let's get the word out! Maria Baniel and Chef Sam Freund are an amazing asset to Long Valley. We are incredibly proud to have them at Restaurant Village.
