Long Valley Man Sues Mercedes, Gets $30K

Dealer sold loaner car, claiming it was a former lease vehicle.

Glen Montgomery, Jr., of Long Valley, paid for a used Mercedes-Benz SUV in 2009 under the presumption it was used for a year by a single owner.

He and his wife later found the Millenium Motors in Bridgewater actually sold him a loaner car, according to a report on dailyrecord.com.

The Montgomerys filed suit, claiming the dealership violated New Jersey's Consumer Fraud Act, and won in court on Tuesday, the report said. The jury awarded the Long Valley resident $10,000 in damages, but that figure was tripled because violations of the fraud act were found.
