Photos: LV Welcomes Back Green Market

The smell of pickles and garlic could be inhaled from a football field away, and the south end of Schooley’s Mountain Road was bustling Thursday afternoon for the much-anticipated return of the Long Valley Green Market.

Featuring approximately 20 vendors showcasing their food and specialty wares, the market sprawled the patio section of CoWorking Long Valley, with a linear setup throughout the former Ballentine’s shop at 20 Schooley’s Mountain Road.

New vendor Picklelicious, offering everything from pickles to olives to homemade hummus, had a constant flow of consumers, as did many shops inside, including the Sweet Spot Bake Shoppe from Chester and Unionville Vineyards.

Among the vendors were a lemonade stand, get-well card making table, and face-painting station, all benefiting Glenn Lightner, a 13-year-old Long Valley resident battling brain cancer.

Organized by Leona Harrington and Kate Munning, the Green Market originated in August 2011, and quickly became a hit. The market opened every other Thursday through October, and because of the success, Harrington and Munning decided to kick-start the season early, and make it a weekly feature in downtown Long Valley.

The Green Market will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. next Thursday, April 12 at CoWorking Long Valley.
