Raise Funds, Support Teams This Weekend

Plenty of goings on to choose from.

Friday is here and it’s time to think about weekend plans. With sunshine and mild temperatures in the forecast, it will be great weather to get out and support your local teams, as well as your local non-profits. Let's take a look.

You Need to Cheer on the Wolfpack: The West Morris Central Varsity Football team kicked the season off with a on Friday, Sept. 9 against West Orange High School. Come out and cheer on the Wolfpack as it looks for a second win on Friday, Sept. 16 against Parsippany Hills at West Morris Central at 7:30 p.m.  

You Need to Know About A Club Making a Difference: The MOMs Club of Long Valley will complete their first service project of the club year at Rock Spring Park on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 8 to 10 a.m. The group will clean out the mulch areas, remove debris from the playground sandbox, and replace the broken sand toys with new ones donated by club members.

You Need to Taste Beer to Raise Funds: Come out and celebrate “20 Years with 20 Beers.” The Washington Township Land Trust of Morris County will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a beer tasting event, featuring local beers on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schooley's Mountain Lodge in Long Valley. The fundraiser will benefit land conservation and historic preservation. Participants will enjoy beer from the Long Valley Pub and Brewery, Peapack Fine Wines and the Hunterdon Brewing Company, as well as hors d'oeuvres provided by Valley Restaurant. Also take part in the Land Trust's annual 50/50 raffle; winning tickets for 35%, 10% and 5% of total ticket sales will be drawn on Dec. 9. Tickets are $35 per person in advance and $40 at the door. You Need a Clean Car: With all of the rain and messy roads, your car probably needs a good scrubbing! So come out and support the West Morris Central Swim Team this weekend at their car wash fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 17. The car wash will be held in the A&P parking lot behind the Burger King (Highway 46 and Naughright Road) in Mt. Olive between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

You Need to Celebrate a New Holy Construction: The Zion Lutheran Church will celebrate the grand opening of its new building on Sunday, Sept. 18.
