Chester Lions Help Rebuild the Shore

Hurricane Sandy left a massive foot print on a vast area of New Jersey. Striving to cushion and ultimately eradicate the pain suffered by so many, the Jersey Shore Workcamp headed by Bill Bechtoldt has taken the lead.

Bill has coordinated the rehabilitation of hundreds of homes in the Union Beach, Keansburg area. He has graciously received donations from numerous sources to continue this effort to upgrade the devastated area.

The Chester Lions Club previously presented Bill with a Check for $25,000 which has been used to help displaced residence reenter their homes. Recently the Chester Lions Club donated an additional $20,000 raised during the very successful Chester Lions Club Oktoberfest Edition #15. Area residents enjoyed the food and entertainment at the Oktoberfest and at the same time helped their neighbors who suffered devastating losses.

The $20,000 check was presented during a day of hands on work. Twelve members from the club traveled down to help install drywall and spackle a home hard hit by the storm, one of over 400 homes the organization has helped rebuild.
