West Morris Wrestling Beats Morris Knolls, Falls to Roxbury

Carcuffe, Matthews, McGuire and Migliaccio stay undefeated as the Wolfpack split two matches on Saturday.

Brandon Carcuffe (145), Nick Matthews (138), Zach McGuire (285) and David Migliaccio (132) stayed undefeated as the West Morris Central High School Wolfpack wrestlers dominated Morris Knolls 53-24, but lost a nail-biter to the Roxbury Gaels 28-26 on Saturday.

Cory Fleming (120) and Migliaccio defeated the Gaels’ previously-undefeated Devon LaFranco and Mike Legotte respectively, in two of the marquee matches of the day. Matthews and Carcuffe (tech fall) won handily, before a string of four straight WMC defeats gave Roxbury a formidable lead.

Jesse Windt (195) won a thrilling 2-0 bout against another unbeaten Gael, Peter Sutton. Then Thomas Stoll’s (220) dramatic pin brought the Wolfpack even with Roxbury late in the match. McGuire’s victory gave the Wolfpack a narrow lead, but it was not to last.
