Windt, Luciano, Migz, Loughney, Schade and Metzler among Morris County top seeded wrestlers

One of the wrestling season’s big events kicks off this afternoon at Mt. Olive High School: the Morris County Tournament. Five WMC wrestlers-- Jesse Windt, Dylan Luciano, Kade Loughney, John Schade and Shane Metzler-- are among the top-5 seeds.

“Pigtails” (bouts to determine which lower-seeded wrestlers enter the final 16) begin at 4, followed by pre-quarterfinals tonight. Tomorrow will have quarter-finals, semis and finals, and well as wrestle backs (where those who lose wrestle each other to determine place).

Windt (23-1), the defending champion at 195 lbs. is the top seed at 220.  Many predict the finals will be a re-match with Stephen Hill of Parsippany Hills, the 2-seed. Windt defeated Hill 5-4 on Wednesday night -- though both wrestlers left the mat to cheers from their teammates. Windt had defeated one of the area’s toughest wrestlers, but Hill prevented the pin WMC would have needed to win the dual.

Luciano (19-4) is the 4-seed at 126 lbs. Loughney (113 lbs., 13-12), Schade (120 lbs., 14-9) and Migliaccio (138 lbs., 16-6) are five-seeds. Metzler (106 lbs., 17-5) is seeded eighth despite his stellar record, in a stacked bracket.

Wolfpack starters Mike Oros at 132 lbs., Noah Yaskulka at 145, Caleb Isemann at 152, Ben Yaskulka at 160, Aldo Cammalleri at 170, Taylor Parkinson-Gee at 195, and Alex Kaltenhauser at 285 will all compete.
