Windt wins Goles gold, Luciano and Migliaccio silver

Windt follows WMC tournament gold with a John Goles Tournament championship.

Metzler and Schade wrestle back for bronze, Loughney and Parkinson-Gee take 4th

West Morris Central wrestling team captain Jesse Windt stayed undefeated this week (6-0), taking gold in the prestigious John Goles Tournament on Friday. Dylan Luciano (4-2) and David Migliaccio (2-2) took silver, as Shane Metzler (4-3) and John Schade (4-1) wrestled back for bronze. Taylor Parkinson-Gee (3-3) and Kade Loughney (4-3) wrestled back for fourth.

The Wolfpack placed 5th overall. Warren Hills placed first, followed by North Hunterdon, Delaware Valley and Edison.

Windt avenged his one-point loss in last year’s Goles championship bout, defeating Warren Hill's Ryan Witner (5-1) in the finals, 7-1.

Luciano was also undefeated until he ran into Ryan Pomrinc. The North Hunterdon junior and State Championship place winner became a three-time Goles champion by defeating Luciano.

Freshmen Metzler, Loughney, Parkinson-Gee and Christian Trimarchi (1-2) have already had impact, contributing significant team points. Trimarchi secured his first varsity win at the tournament.

The team’s strong showing at Goles followed an impressive West Morris Central Tournament, where Loughney, Luciano and Windt were crowned champions. Metzler and Aldo Cammalleri (2-4) gained silver, while Michael Oros (3-4) and Caleb Isemann (3-4) secured bronze.

North Hunterdon

The Wolfpack opened its dual meet season Tuesday hosting powerhouse North Hunterdon High School (3-0), which Wrestling Full Circle ranked among NJ’s top-35 teams. Forfeiting three weight classes, WMC fell 54-9. Only Windt and Schade had their hands raised for the Pack, even counting the JV bouts.

Windt pinned NH senior Tim Bartlett, while Schade outlasted Michael Bednar 3-2.

Luciano once again ran into the undefeated Pomrinc to fall 13-5, while Metzler nearly avenged his loss to Goles and District 17 champion Paul Robinson, but fell 5-3.  Migliaccio fell to former schoolboy state champion Brian Smolinsky 7-3, who avenged his Goles loss to Migs.

Oros and Isemann also wrestled tough, falling respectively to Derek and Michael Ciavarro, who were a combined 50-22 last year. Michael is a defending District 17 champ, while Derek placed 2nd.

The team hopes to see reinforcements in the upper weights, with Ben Yaskulka, Anthony Fallick and Parkinson-Gee missing the match with injuries.

Junior Pack

Noah Yaskulka brought home gold from the Roxbury JV Tournament on Sunday, defeating Randolph junior Elijah Rivera in overtime for the championship. Michael O’Rourke and Michael Brown won silver, and Trimarchi took bronze.
