Chili, Chocolate, and Football This Weekend

The first weekend in February is overflowing with stuff to do, so without boring you with nonsensical prose, let’s get to it.

You Need to Support Big Blue: Let’s take care of the 800 lb. gorilla in the room first. This Sunday is the Super Bowl (in case you hadn’t heard), and your hometown New York Giants are playing against the New England Patriots. Kick-off is at 6:29 p.m., but before then, we want you to tell us why the Giants will win and how you support them. Go here to find out more, and be sure to upload your photos!

You Need to Eat Chili: Before the Big Game, you’ll have an opportunity to fill up on Washington Township’s best homemade chili at the Saturday night. Beginning at 6 p.m., the , presented by the Long Valley Women’s Club, will raise money for local first-responder groups. Adults are $8, children are $5 and kids under three are free. .

You Need to Raise Funds With Chocolate: The Friends of the Washington Township Library will be hosting a Sweet Offer Sale at Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funds will benefit the library, and when you present a coupon you’ll get 10-percent off your purchase. . Enjoy!

You Need to Know About Music: After you’ve bought your chocolate and eaten some chili, go see the Irish music group The Prodigals as they play at Centenary College at 8 p.m. Tickets are between $15 and $25.

You Need to Save the Planet: The Washington Township Recycling Center will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for residents. Please keep bundles under 25 lbs. for safety of the personnel.
