Eat Some Pancakes, Celebrate Long Valley's History

Weekend is overflowing with things to do.

As so brilliantly said by music group Lover Boy, “Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend,” and they couldn’t be more right. Well, the weekend is here and it’s time to relax, unwind, and see what’s happening. While we gave you a rundown on Thursday of , we’ve got a few more to whet your appetite.

You Need to Have a Good Breakfast: The is hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, from 8 a.m. to noon. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for kids age 4 to 10, and $6 for seniors. All proceeds benefit the fire department.

You Need to Learn Some History: The Washington Township Historical Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend. The Society will have an open house on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Programs during the two days include historic recipes, a presentation about L. Richard Schoenheit, a German emigrant who settled in German Valley, and the history of local railroads.

You Need to Help Save the Planet: The recycling center, as usual, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Please keep bundles under 25 pounds for the safety of the center’s personnel.

You Need to Catch a (Free) Movie: Over at the , it’s the monthly family movie at 1 p.m. The show is free, and snacks will be provided. Parents must stay with their children.

You Need to do Your Taxes: Seniors with incomes less than $49,000 annually are eligible to receive free income tax assistance from IRS-certified volunteers at the 9:30 a.m. at the on Friday. For more information, contact Gail Werner at 908-876-5941, ext. 25.
