Gun Registration at All-Time High in Twp.

Documents obtained by Patch showed gun permits in Washington Township between 2006 and 2013 (to date) have increased drastically during a time when gun control regulations are being called for at state and federal levels.

The Boy Scouts of America national board was scheduled to vote on possibly overturning its policy on sexual orientation in the organization. One local Scoutmaster said he would be fine with the inclusion of homosexuals in the troop. The vote was moved to May.

Washington Township Schools are just one vote away from implementing, for the first time in district history, full day kindergarten, replacing its current morning and afternoon programs. Residents of Washington Township have not been quiet with their opinions for and against the program.

Helicopter Searches for Partying Chester Teens

The break-up of a underage drinking party in Chester Township led to the scattering of dozens of teens into the woods, followed by a helicopter search and aid from multiple local agencies to kick off February.

Baby Killed in Route 206 Chester Crash

A two-car collision on a highly traveled stretch of Rt. 206 in Chester Township claimed the life of an unborn baby belonging to a Hackettstown woman earlier this month. There have been numerous crashes in that stretch of roadway in previous months.

Bridge Work to Cause 8-Month Rt. 57 Detour

The New Jersey Department of Transportation will begin working on a bridge deck replacement project in Mansfield Township that will affect motorists heading west out of Hackettstown and Washington Township. Detours will take motorists around Airport and Rockport Roads through Mansfield Township.
