Halloween in Washington Twp. Moved to Friday

Conditions too dangerous, mayor says.

At the recommendation of Governor Chris Christie, Washington Township is postponing its trick-or-treating hours until Friday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 8 p.m.

"Conditions are just too dangerous," Mayor Ken Short said. "The recommendation was given by the governor's office, so we've decided to move it to Friday. There are too many trees and power lines still down. It's unsafe."

A previous report from early Monday stated that Washington Township's trick-or-treating hours were still in effect for Oct. 31.
