It's Not Just About Elections Tuesday

Here we are, ready for the long-awaited Election Day to come, and you need to go and cast a vote. Take five minutes out of your day to elect your officials, and please, make an informed decision. While the election is the focal point of the day, there are other happenings in town.

You Need to Honor Veterans: The American Veterans Association of Washington Township (AVAWT) will hold its annual Veterans Day flag-raising ceremony this morning at at 9 a.m. Because schools are closed Thursday and Friday (Veterans Day is Nov. 11) this week, the event will take place Tuesday. All are welcome to attend.

You Need to Support Your Teams: As usual, are taking part in serious playoff action this week, vying for championships. The boys' soccer team will play at Scotch Plains today in the North II, Group 3 sectional semifinals at 2 p.m. The Lady Highlanders Volleyball team will host Old Tappan at 4:30 p.m. in the NJSIAA playoff semifinals. You Need to Attend a Meeting: The Washington Township Shade Tree Committee will hold its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the . Based on October's snow storm damage, there will likely be plenty to talk about. The public is encouraged to attend.

You Need to Learn About Bullying (and the harm it causes): The Washington Township Public Library will hold a forum about how to prevent and handle bullying in schools. The session begins at 7 p.m. and is open to all Washington Township residents. For more information, .
