Power Outages at 2K, Many Roads Still Closed

Schools, government buildings closed Monday, Oct. 31.

An early snowstorm that blasted Washington Township on Oct. 29 was neither a trick or a treat, despite arriving ahead of the fall holiday Halloween.

Some 2,000 residents in the municipality are still without power as of 8 a.m. Monday morning, with nine roads or sections of roads still closed due to downed trees and power lines.

According to the township, closed roads for morning travel include:

  • Kings Road from Route 57 to Cobblestone Road
  • Old Turnpike west of Stephensburg
  • Stephensburg Road and Old Turnpike
  • Schooley's Mountain Road from Newburgh Road to Flocktown Road
  • Schooley's Mountain Road from Flocktown Road to East Springtown Road
  • Fairmount Road at Dog Park
  • Coleman Road (entire length)
  • North Four Bridges Road from Sunset to Bartley
  • Beacon Light Road near Tewksbury Town Line

This list does not indicate roadways that have trees or lines down, but are still passable.

Washington Township Schools and West Morris Regional Schools are all closed today. The Washington Township Municipal Building is also closed for the day.
