Road Closure, Contest Opens Wednesday

Don't forget to register for kindergarten.

Today isn’t just another Wednesday on the calendar; it’s the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The attack, conducted by Japanese military forces, was the impetus for America’s involvement in World War II. So, if you know or see a veteran from the war, tell them thank you for their service and sacrifice. It will mean a lot to them.

Let’s take a look at what’s going on around town today.

You Need to Know About a Road Closure: Morris County Engineering will be repairing the barriers on Newburgh Road bridge, connecting Washington Township and Hackettstown. The road will be closed to through traffic beginning at 9 a.m. today, and is expected to be closed for two weeks.

You Need to Save the Planet: The Washington Township Recycling Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 50 Rock Road for residents to dispose of their recyclables. Please keep bundles under 25 lbs. for the safety of the personnel.

You Need to See a Demonstration: The will host a Holiday Decoration Demonstration by the Garden Club of Long Valley’s Patti Bowman at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

You Need to Register for Kindergarten: Registration appointments for the 2012-13 school year will take place in January, but residents are asked to schedule their in-person appointments now.
