Schools, Green Market Closed on Thursday

Food for fines campaign ongoing at the library.

We here at Long Valley Patch were a little spooked when it dawned on us that yesterday’s flooding and road closures came on Sept. 28. Hurricane Irene made its biggest impact on Aug. 28 (see the trend?). We’re really not looking forward to Oct. 28. For now, though, let’s look at what you need to know today.

You Need to Know Schools Are Closed: In observance of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah, all Washington Township Schools and West Morris Central High School are closed. Regular class schedules will resume Friday, Sept. 30.

You Need to Have Car Seats Checked: The Long Valley First Aid Squad will be holding a free child car seat safety check beginning at 7 a.m. at its 70 East Mill Road building. To find out more information, go here.

You Need Some Green... In Two Weeks: The Long Valley Green Market will not be in session from 3 to 7 p.m. in front of 20 Schooley’s Mountain Road, as it usually is bi-weekly on Thursdays. Due to Wednesday's flooding, this week will be skipped. Check back Oct. 13.

You Need to Get to Court: Washington Township Municipal Court is in session tonight at the municipal building. To find out if you need to be there, call the court administrator at 908-876-3852.
