Tragic Loss, New Cell Tower Top Long Valley News

Alleged Long Valley burglars indicted for multiple crimes.

The Long Valley community was dealt a tragic loss this week, as we said goodbye to Glenn Lightner, a 14-year-old who lost his battle with brain cancer.

Brain Cancer Claims Life of Long Valley Teen

As was mentioned in the opening, Long Valley Middle School eighth grader Glenn Lightner succumbed to his five-year battle with brain cancer Wednesday morning. The teen enjoyed playing basketball with his friends, listening to music and playing video games. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Silvia, and younger brother Karl.

Cell Tower Almost Ready on Schooley’s Mountain

The long-awaited Verizon Communications cellular tower is near completion atop Schooley’s Mountain, just behind the Washington Township Police Department. The monopole structure will also hold antennae for Sprint-Nextel, and is expected to be completely ready before the end of 2012.

Outgoing Board Member Applauded for Service

If you went to or knew anything about West Morris Central High School in the past 35 years, you knew Mr. Lobron. The former school administrator turned board of education member attended his final meeting this week, as he did not run for re-election in 2012. Alleged Burglars Indicted for Long Valley Thefts

Two Passaic County residents–one formerly of Long Valley–who were arrested in connection with multiple residential burglaries in town earlier this year have been indicted for those crimes by a Morris County Grand Jury. Emily Warrick and Kyle Jackson are still in jail in lieu of bail.
