Tuesday Afternoon Road Closures Plentiful

14 roads or road portions closed for downed trees and power lines.

More than a dozen roads or portions of roads are still closed in Washington Township as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to Washington Township Police Sgt. Doug Compton.

Those roads include:

  • Coleman Road between Ridgeline Drive and East Mill Road
  • East Valley Brook Road between Old Farmers Road and Rt. 24
  • Kings Highway between Cobblestone Road and Rt. 57 (Opened at 3:30 p.m.)
  • North Four Bridges Road between Laketown and Bartley Roads
  • Stephensburg Road between Old Turnpike Road and Cider Mill Road
  • West Valley Brook Road between Frog Hollow Road and Turtleback Road
  • Old Farmers Road between Christopher Street and Parker Road
  • Beacon Hill Road between Abedim Way and the Tewksbury Line
  • Apgar Road between Green Hills and Old Farmers Road
  • Old Turnpike Road between Mt. Lebanon Road and Rt. 57
  • Middle Valley Road between Zellers and Califon Roads
  • Schooley's Mountain Road between Flocktown and Newburgh Roads (previously opened)

The process of eliminating downed trees and fixing wires is set up like an assembly line, according to Compton. Jersey Central Power & Light's tree cutting and removal personnel first have to take down trees or limbs covering roadways, then the electrical personnel may come in and take care of the power.
