Senior Center can accommodate 20 residents at a time; will open at 4 p.m.

The Washington Township at will be opened at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 as a warming center to the municipality's residents, according to Mayor Ken Short.

The senior center can accommodate up to 20 people at a time, Short said, and there will be cots and blankets available. Pillows will not be provided. Pets are prohibited. Residents should bring their own toiletries as well.

"It's a place where residents can come and warm up, charge their electronics if needed," Short said. "They can spend a few hours here, and extend their stay if need be."

Volunteers from the Morris County Office of Emergency Management will be on hand to help residents coming into the center. Those looking to use the facility need to bring identification with them, Short said.

Showers at police headquarters may be arranged from the senior center, Short said. There is also a dumpster behind police headquarters in the rear parking lot that may be used by township residents to dispose of their spoiled food only. No other garbage should be disposed of in the dumpster.
