Week in Review: Colors Change Throughout LV

From cops in school to fun at Octoberfest, it was a lively week.

Between the rain drops this past week, Long Valley saw a lot of new colors on the trees and some beautiful foliage unfolding before our eyes. So many residents in Washington Township love the fact that we see all four seasons, and there’s no question that autumn’s beauty shines brightly here.

The week began with user-submitted photos and video from last Sunday’s annual Octoberfest at the Long Valley Pub and Brewery. The weather was perfect, and the food and drink flowed for hours. To see who was there, .

As the week moved along, we saw a large crowd at the West Morris Regional High School board of education meeting, many of whom were there to speak out against the antics and tactics of Citizens for Better Schools. To see what members of the public had to say, .

One of the biggest stories of the week came from the Schooley’s Mountain General Store. Well, the story didn’t come from the town landmark, but more from the change in paint color to the exterior of the building. Residents from all over town had plenty to say about the alteration. .

The Washington Township Committee held its work session on Wednesday this week, and Long Valley Patch learned about an amendment that will be made to an existing ordinance regarding vehicle weight limit on Schooley’s Mountain Road. The decision was borne out of a tractor-trailer crash on Sept. 26. To learn more, .

Another topic mulled by the governing body was the possibility of adding a police officer to the squad, which would allow an existing officer to spend time at West Morris Central High School. The committee instructed Washington Township Police Chief Michael Bailey to create a proposal for this member and add it into the 2012 budget for review. To learn more, .
