Week in Review: Donations, Resignations in LV

Local entrepreneur offers homemade BBQ Sause.

Long Valley said goodbye to November and hello to December this week, and the temperatures indicated it was time to do so. It was another news-filled workweek, and there’s plenty to know about.

The biggest news of the week was the resignation announcement by West Morris Regional High School District Superintendent Dr. Anthony di Battista. The former Mendham High School history teacher and administrator will vacate his post at the end of February 2012. The announcement was abrupt, and at least one administrator felt it was too soon. Staying on the topic of regional school district, it was learned that the board–consisting of nine representatives–will be reapportioned after the April 2012 election. Washington Township, which currently has five representatives, will have its presence reduced to four. Picking up that additional seat is Chester Borough, currently not represented on the board. It’s the holiday season, which means we’ll likely eat more food over the next few weeks than we have all year. And you know what goes great with just about any food? Barbecue sauce. Or, for one local entrepreneur, BBQ Sause. . Try not to get too hungry.

After completing a superlative season, bringing a , the West Morris Central girls’ soccer team had a number of its players recognized individually with All-Conference and All-County awards. To find out more,

Members of the American Veterans Association of Washington Township made a visit to this week to accept a donation from the students for the Wounded Warrior Campaign. What came of it was the single largest student donation the AVAWT has ever received.
