Week in Review: Easements and Entrepreneurs

Long Valley was full of news this past week.

Long Valley has flown through another week, and as always, there was plenty of news to keep an eye on. Did you even notice that editor Jason Koestenblatt was missing for a few days this week? Probably not, since the staff at Long Valley Patch continued doing their great work without missing a beat.

A Washington Township Planning Board meeting early in the week yielded plenty of news, and was a busy night for the board’s members. First, the group gave the final OK to Homeless Solutions, the group creating low-income housing on Drakestown Road. To learn more, . The housing units will grand open on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The board also approved a new modification to the Verizon communications monopole site plan to be installed behind the police department that will make the area more aesthetically pleasing.

Black Oak Golf Club on Bartley Road was given another extension to complete unfinished projects on the course grounds, and still has a few unfinished projects and approvals needed. Find out what the Club will be working on .

The Washington Township Committee held its regular work session on Wednesday night, and it wasn’t exactly a quick, smooth-sailing meeting. Residents from the Setting Sun development off Reservoir Road had plenty to say about the governing body enforcing the conservation easement ordinance in town, and neither side was too happy during the discussion. .

The Washington Township Library held its annual chocolate fest on Tuesday, and Patch photographer Christy Ward was there to see the kids dive into the fun.

Also this week, radio talk show host Joan Hermann spoke with women’s entrepreneurial group B.I.G. of Long Valley, and shared her career experiences and what it took for her to get where she is today. .
