Week in Review: Long Valley Runs Through the Week

There was more news than you can shake a stick at.

If the adage ‘Time flies when you’re having fun’ is true, then Long Valley Patch just about missed this past week as it shuttled through the days. There was news to report from just about every angle of Washington Township, from sports to politics to schools and so on. So, without further adieu, here’s a quick rundown of what you may have missed this week.

The week began , when the fifth annual 5K Memorial Race took place at West Morris Central High School. About 280 participants joined in the walk/run event to help raise funds for a variety of scholarship programs at the high school. Also on Sunday (photos on Monday) was a girls’ lacrosse event at Ridge High School where some of the youth teams from Long Valley played. Check out .

Speaking of girls’ lacrosse, it was a busy week for the Wolfpack, who ended up in the North II, Group 3 Sectional Final on Thursday against sister-school and rival Mendham. To see the results, .

Also this week, more than 160 West Morris Regional School District faculty members and residents came out to voice their opinion at the school board’s regular meeting. The marathon meeting focused on the unsettled negotiations of contracts between the board and teachers. , and here’s .

Speaking of working, eighth grade students at Long Valley Middle School had an . Sanders, now a creative writing professor at Virginia Tech University, spent three days with the students and taught them about fiction writing, and how he comes up with his stories.

Other students at Long Valley Middle School did some writing of their own in recent weeks, and explained what good deed they would see through if given $100. The Long Valley Junior Women’s Club put together the contest, and announced three winners on Thursday,
