Week in Review: Progress, Protest Pace LV

Major meeting draws polarizing opinions early in the week.

Long Valley came across some protests as well as some progress this week, and we were there to report on as much of it as possible.

Arguably the biggest topic of the week was the meeting on Wednesday hosted by the mayors of Washington Township, the Chesters and the Mendhams, . Options being mulled by the towns include mega-consolidation, dissolution, and single-town withdrawal.

One Long Valley resident’s week was a lot different than anyone else’s, when he learned he was $80,000 richer. Bruce Lovenberg, by chance, entered a raffle in a different Morris County town, and came out the winner.

Speaking of good fortune, we continued following the journey of Long Valley’s Glenn Lightner, a 13-year-old middle school student currently in Belgium undergoing alternative medicinal therapies in hopes of curing his brain cancer. , Larry Lightner. The community continues to rally behind the teen, raising funds for the family’s trip overseas–which is not covered by medical insurance–and bringing awareness to the topic.

Supporters of Diane Sare for Congress set up shop outside the Long Valley Post Office on Wednesday, declaring the current administration is hurting, rather than helping, the United States. The duo didn’t keep their feelings quiet, nor did they discriminate which politicians would be the subject of their attacks. .

Long Valley’s Mike Rossi, , took his performance to new heights recently, and spoke with Patch about his 2nd place finish at Nationals in March, and his first competition at the before that.
