Week in Review: Quakes, 'Canes Conquer LV

Natural disasters made their way through Washington Township this week.

It’s that time of week where we tell you of all the great and informative news that went on in Long Valley over the past seven days. But today, it’s kind of hard to say it was ‘another great week in Long Valley’ as we usually do.

For starters, Tuesday gave us the tremors from a 5.9-magnitude earthquake that came from Virginia, and as you read this, the northeast is being doused by Hurricane Irene.

Hopefully there are no locusts around the corner.

Washington Township Clerk Dianne Gallets retired from her post on June 30 after 34 years of service, and to celebrate the achievement, the township is honoring her with a dinner reception on Sept. 16.
