Week in Review: Rides and Recalls Run Long Valley

MOMS Clubs and markets made the week.

It feels like just yesterday we were saying hello to summer, and now the first week of August is over! Time flies when you’re having fun, and what better place to enjoy a summer than Long Valley? OK, fine, the beach is great and Caribbean islands are nice, but you know what we’re saying.

The week kicked off in a great way, as Long Valley Patch provided story, video, and a massive photo gallery from the 2nd Annual Tour de Long Valley, which took place on Sunday, July 31. There were 300 cyclists on hand to battle Washington Township’s roadways on 20- and 40-mile courses. Registration funds from the ride benefited the Long Valley First Aid Squad. To read about it, . So, what’s in a name? Apparently something, according to a growing group of Long Valley Middle School alumni, which is looking to rename the school to the Mary Darter Middle School, after the longtime staff member and community volunteer. Long Valley Patch loves speaking with and highlighting charitable organization and civic groups looking to make a difference for Washington Township residents. This week, we stopped by the monthly meeting of the MOMS Club of Long Valley, which meets at Emmanuel Bible Church. Not only did the group meet and have some adult time, they also learned the proper way of installing and maintaining a child’s car seat from Washington Township Police Officer Adam Feichter. As the week came to an end, we presented a story about the current motions to recall two of the West Morris Regional High School Board members, James Johnston and Jacke Schram.
